My primary research interests lie in understanding the structure and function of coastal, marine communities. I have two main lines of research that include:
  1. Applications of macroecological tools and landscape ecology approaches to coastal systems to better understand the ecological consequences of environmental variation, and
  2. Descriptions of estuarine food web structure and trophic-mediated, cross-habitat energy flow.
Within these two areas of focus, I am particularly interested in how human alterations to coastal landscapes may impact these systems at multiple levels via alterations in habitat pattern or removal of key species by overharvest.
